    Hi,

    As we know the antivirus gets updates on daily basis but what is the exact size of that patch that is released  daily?

    my SEPM are RU6 Mp2 & MR4 Mp2.

    AV Signatures - 50 KB to 100 KB daily for clients, if you assume that the signatures are updated successfully every day.

     

    IPS Signature Updates - Files range between 50 KB and 100 KB. Symantec supplies updates approximately every quarter unless a specific threat or vulnerability needs to be addressed

     

  • Heartbeat (with no updates to be exchanged) - When there is no traffic to be exchanged (i.e. no profile to download and no logs to update) then the heartbeat is between 2 KB/s and 3 KB/s.

  •  

  • Policies (i.e. AV/AS, Firewall, OS Protection, Host Integrity) - Typically varies between 20 KB and 80 KB, but can increase if detailed rules are included, or OS protection templates are used. Generally, after you set your policies to suit your network needs, you do not modify them on a regular basis

  •  

  • Logs - Logs are compressed at the client before they are uploaded to the Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager. Approximately, 800 log entries take up 1KB of file space.

    I agreed with peta.

    But i am little bit confuse here is virus definition file size not mention.

    When I am check my system  daily 327 MB virus definition file are install in VirusDefs folder.

    What is the exact size of that update on server when it downloads the update globally.?

    the folders get created with the size becuase of two folders within ( one being zip and another one extracted). however the definition download is incremental. You can check it in sylink log.

    Am having GUPs in my networks does it take same ie 50 kb to 100 kb .

    ok, the log you have attached is the debug log not the sylink log. and even to know the size you need to collect while update is in progress and completed.

    It depends on the definitions of the SEP clients, which are requesting the updates from GUP. 

    Generally Symantec releases around 3 updates a day, so a GUP can download around 1 MB to 2 MB of data from the SEPM in day, if all the clients in the network are upto date.

    Try the SEP Content Distribution Monitor. You'll get a lot of information about GUPs, content download etc. Maybe particularly important for you: It's possible to get the daily download of AV/AS content in MB.
