  • 1.  What vendors can I buy an SSL cert from to use with Brightmail?

We are currently using a Symantec 8200 appliance with Brightmail 7.7.  We've enabled TLS encryption and are using our own self created certificates.  I'd like to look into buying an SSL/TLS cert to use for this and I'm wondering what vendors are supported/recommended for this appliance.

    Thanks for any help!

    Hey Josh,

Thawte and VeriSign are probably a couple of the best known Certificate Authorities that we can use. I'll have to see if we have a publicly available listing of trusted authorities.

    Thanks!

    Tom,

When purchasing the cert from Thawte, it asks me to select the web server software.  I know for my Windows boxes it was always IIS, but what is it for the Brightmail appliance?  Do I select Other?  I didn't see Brightmail as an option.  I'm not sure if this is a critical thing or not, but I wanted to check first.

    Thanks!

To be honest I'm not entirely sure. It's an SSL cert for mail. I believe the "type" is vendor specific so you may need to contact them.

    Sorry :smileysad:
