Hi,

can anyone here please share with me how to properly deploy the EV Client version 9 over the existing version 8 ?

The previous SOE that I got was already installed and then deployed to all employee, and now I'd like to do the upgrade for the existing workstation and I wonder what are my options to do the upgrade properly for the Outlook client.

Depends on the client

If you're going Full Client to Full Client or Lite Client to Lite Client, then you can just install straight off the bat
If you're going from Lite Client to Full Client or vice versa, then an uninstallation must be done first and then install the new client

You should really look at jus tinstalling the EV10 SP2 hotfix client, its a single MSI that contains all the languages, so now you don't have a lite client or a full client in all different languages, you just have the one MSI , plus it has a boat load of fixes, especially around Vault Cache and Virtual Vault

Hi Jesus,

EV10 SP2 hotfix client --> I'm in the process of upgrading the EV 8.0 SP4 into version 9.0 SP4 so can I deploy the EV client eventhough the server is not 10 yet ?

Kind regards,

What version of the EV server are you running?

Clients are + and - one major version.  So the 10 client will work with a 10 server, and a 9 server.

It would appear that he is running EV 8 and upgrading to EV 9 sp4

Cool, thanks for the recommendation Rob !

EV Server 9.0 SP4 and then the EV client is 10 SP2 is that what you mean ?

I assume the EV Client.MSI can be deployed using SCCM or any other MSI deployment tools as normal upgrade from version 8.0 SP4 into 10 SP2 after I upgraded the EV server.

Depends on the UAC level of any Windows Vista or 7 machines, if they're strict then you have to run the setup.exe included with the MSI

We have UAC enabled on the majority of our systems.

Currently most machines have EV 8 Outlook Add-in installed.

We have built an EV 10.3 Server and are in the process of test migrating archives to the 10.3 server.

I'm attempting to prepare deployment of the 10.3 Outlook Add-in but I'm at a loss as to which command switches I need to utilize.

We use Altiris/NS 7.1 SP2 for deployment.

Should I be using setup /a while making sure no users are logged in?

Or are there additional switches I'm not finding in the documentation (or on the forums) that I utilize with setup.exe?

Thanks for any feedback.
