  • 1.  When pushing out to a client, sometimes I will ONLY see the domain name and IP

I am not sure why this happens but on occasion, when I go to push a client using SEPM, I will see the PCname plus the IP address.

Recently I have been seeing the domain name, no PC name and the IP address. I want to be able to see the PC name as well as the IP address.

    Any idea what gives here?

Sounds like a DNS resolution issue but not exactly sure of how this network discovery tool in the SEPM works.

It's interesting that you mention that. In order for me to even get into the SEPM server, most of the time I have to go in by IP, it will give me some hooey about DNS if I try by name.

Is the SEPM on the domain?

I would definitely look into the DNS "issue" as that may resolve what is going on with the SEPM. The network discover piece probably just uses a simple DNS query but failing for the same reason you may have issues getting to the SEPM by hostname.

    Hi,

When you see domain name it means FQDN?

    Check with Nslookup command.

DNS should resolve both hostname and IP address.
