When restoring, freeze at "Loading Media"

I am using Backup Exec 2010 R2 (Media server version: 13.0 Rev. 4164, Admin colsole Version 13.0 Rev. 4164.)

Previously I was able to restore files from LTO Tapes back to Disks. For some reason, when I try to preform restoration today, it just stuck at "Loading Media". (when I try to cancel the job, it takes 15-30 mins before job could be cancelled.)

The only major change to the system is that we update our OS from Windows Server 2008 R2 to Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1 last week.

what can I do?

I have attached file with the version of my Backup Exec.

Hi Richard,

 

BE 2010 R2 is 1 version behind the latest (and last version of BE 2010) which is R3.

My suggestion would be to consider an upgrade to BE 2010 R3 (you can use your same licenses you currently have) and run LiveUpdate to install SP3 and any subsequent patches before push-installing to your remote servers.

Once done, try the restore again...

This appears to be related to device detection issue, as you recollect the only change to be OS upgrade.

Now I would like you to check a restore from a different media and share the results.

Additionally, I may like you to share what exactly are you restoring?

Do you find any drive activity on the tape, library..?

What is the exact make and model of the hardware ?

I find out that it only happens when I try to Redirect the restore files to another location.

Sasha 2008, we are restoring some data files from our instruments.

I did use a new tape and perform a backup and restore, restoring to it's original location, and it works fine.

When I try to restore the data in question to its orignial location, it works too. Things went wrong when I try to redirect the restore locaiton.

When it goes wrong, the Tape drive is control by the BE and I cannot eject the tape even I press the eject button on the tape drive.

We are using HP Proliant DL370G6, HP Ultrium 1840.

Backup Exec locks the drive itself, meaning you can't manually eject tapes. You need to run an Unlock job from the Devices tab (right-click your tape drive to do this), and then you can eject the tape manually.

Does the server on which you're trying to redirect the restore have a RAWS agent on? Or are you redirecting to a different folder?
