Where does NetBackup store start time for differential incremantal?

Created: 07 Mar 2013 | 3 comments

I need to know where the starttime value for a Netbackup Enterprise Server differential incremental backup is kept.

I also need to know how to alter the value to move the start time further into the past.   I am encountering problems where the differential backups are missing Oracle RMAN backup files, altering the -dt value in a bpbkar command will correct for this defeciency and ensure all RMAN files are backed up.

Start time of each backup is kept in image database which resides on the master server. Once it is set, you can not manipulate it.

Did you copy RMAN backup files to the client? NetBackup refers modified time of each files and determines which files to be backed up. If mtime of copied files are older than the start te of previous backup, NetBackup does not take them. Please ensure that you should not keep mtime while copying.

Try checking in /netbackup/db/class/<polic_name>/schedules and so on... Open file in notepad and check

i wud say rethink on above comment , yasuhisa is correct , do not attempt to manipulate them.

I would agree, do not change this, I personally have no idea what would happen for 100% but there is a danger of messing up the syncronisation between the image DB and the media DB and that could lead to catalog inconsistances (NBCC issues).
