Where is VRTSsfmcs?

Created: 23 Jul 2010 • Updated: 09 Sep 2010 | 3 comments
This issue has been solved. See solution.

We just installed Storage Foundation 5.1 on a Solaris x86 platform.  When I go to the web gui, I provide the information it requests (a password, etc), then it complains:

Performing pre-config checks

VRTSsfmcs package is not installed
Check configuration log for details

So, I go to Symantec's download site, and for the VOM it gives us this:

VRTSsfmh-RU1_3.0.357.0_SunOS_arch_i386.pkg

Turns out, it's already installed.

So just where is this VRTSsfmcs?

Hi Forrie,

You need to install this VRTSsfmcs, as per below mentioned guide, this package is for
"
VRTSsfmcs SF Manager package that is required on Management Server "

ftp://ftp.entsupport.symantec.com/pub/support/docu...

you are intending to install SFM or VOM ?  You can download the trialwares from:

http://www.symantec.com/business/products/downloads/index.jsp

If you have license ID, you can also try download from:

https://fileconnect.symantec.com

VOM specifically can be downloaded from:

http://www.symantec.com/business/veritas-operation...

package you are looking for should be bundled with it.. In case you have software DVD for SF, best to start looking in it..

I/we want to install whatever the latest gadget happens to be - as it seems the SFM is being fazed out in favor of VOM.

My fileconnect page only lists downloads for the Storage Foundation 5.1 products.   Are you saying that VOM is another product we have to purchase?

You are right, VOM is a latest solution .....I don't think at this point you will need to purchase VOM ...

You can install VOM, however the original problem what you are facing about the missing package.... that should be available somewhere in 5.1 product disc only...
