Which PGP product?

Created: 02 Aug 2011 | 7 comments

hello

I use Pgp once in a while to crypt a file or another.

Up to now, I was with Pgp v8 undex WinXP; I just moved to Win7.

Which Pgp product should I pick up among all the Symantec Pgp's?

Thank you in advance.

Francois

No one so far to answer this rather plain question?

Do I ask some sophisticated question?

Well, the moderator in charge of this forum might be on vacation these days.

If you are using PGP file encryption just for personal use, the Freeware should meet your needs.

I am in the same boat as the original poster.

Could you be more specific. Maybe a link to where we can get the Freeware version?

I just want to be able to encrypt files and decrypt ones I already encrypted with Desktop 9 for personal use.

I dont want whole disk encryption, I dont want email encryption.

You can use the Trial link here.  PGP Desktop components are all in the Desktop software package - the ones active and available for use are determined by the license.  The Trial/Freeware functioning is full for 30 days and then reduced to the Freeware level of functioning (no PGP Disk, email proxy only working on incoming email).  However, you can disable the email proxy in PGP Options, and you can also use this Knowledge Base Article to disable desired components from the installation.
