This issue has been solved. See solution.

A am using BackupExec 2012 SP2 on a Windows 2008 x64 with 2 NIC's. One is connected to the the normal LAN and the other one is connected the iSCSI network.
Also there is a Dell MD3000i SAN. This SAN is connected only to the iSCSI network. There are two ESX servers (one virtual vcenter server). Both are also connected to iSCSI network and also to the LAN network.

Now I want to backup the virtual mashines on the vcenter server. Which of the transportmodes I have to choose for optimal performance?

SAN transport mode is quicker than NBD mode. Have a look @ this KB, so that you can use SAN mode - http://www.symantec.com/business/support/index?pag...

Agent for VMWare can perform backup using nbd (LAN) or SAN transport method. To use SAN transport mode, here are the requirements.
