Our company is currently in our design phase of deploying Altiris CMS 1 and one of the hot topics we have run into is using Wake on LAN on our network. Our Security and Network groups have concerns that Denial of Service attacks will be possible if they turn on directed broadcasts on our routers in order to enable Wake on Lan.

Cisco is making claims to our Network group that there aren't any companies using Wake on LAN which I know is incorrect. I am looking for some feedback/experiences from any larger organizations (5000 Users+) with implementing Wake on LAN.

WOL enabled here

Our company is using WOL. We even pushed out a Dell bios modification to see all the computers to enable WOL. I haven't heard of any issues with it yet, but our network group did have the same concerns.

WOL ...

Hello,

We have Client Management Suite L1 and we are using WOL. We manage 11000 workstations and we use WOL in Patch Management process.

There is no need to modify routers to be able to use WOL with Altiris.

The NS is adressing clients to wake using "Relay Agents".
