Symantec Management Platform (Notification Server)

Hi,

I have a All-in-One Altiris Notification Server 7.1 (Virtual Machine) for PC inventory & software deployment with MSSQL database 2008 R2.

Message "The agent for this task type is not installed" when use "Run Script" (Screen is attached)

I think i missed "Alitiris Base Task Handler", but I cannot find any policy to installed this agent? What should I do to install those agent? Thanks.

Yes, missing Base Task Handler is the root of the problem. Do you have BaseTaskHandlers.dll in path: C:\Program Files\Altiris\Altiris Agent\Agents\Agent Tasks ? What will happen if you will run command:

regsvr32 "C:\Program Files\Altiris\Altiris Agent\Agents\Agent Tasks\BaseTaskHandlers.dll" ?

This dll is a part of SMA and if it is missing then there is some real problem with the install.

I can find the "BaseTaskHandlers.dll" file.

1) What's the command mean? The error seem not appear again after run this.

2) I do the inventory again on the pc, but still not find that agent.

Hi A-Law,

In general, regsvr32 registers a dll in the system, creating proper common registry keys.

But I think you still do not have proper record for the Base Task Handler in Altiris Agent registry, as regsvr32 cannot create it. This registry should be created by altiris agent setup.

Please run regedit and take a look - do you have corresponding key?

It's ok now after your comment is run, the registry also found.

I am not sure is it done after your command or reinstallation. Anyway, just don't why first time it cannot make it. Thanks
