    Hi,

I have a All-in-One Altiris Notification Server 7.5 (Virtual Machine) for PC inventory & software deployment with MSSQL database 2008 R2.

I run a IP subnet discovery and some new computers are found. However, I found those computers in the new discovered subnet are under "Installed Agent" catagory  (No scheduled Agent installation task).

    I would like to know:

    1) Why those computers would be undered "Installed Agent" catagory without agent installed task is run?

    2) I found those computers icon are different from the others, what does it mean?

    Thanks.

    Hi A-Law,

1- I have never seen this behavior, but I'm wondering, maybe, these machines are managed by Symantec Management Agent but it is not registered under your new Notification Server. Can you verify this?

2- I cannot see the image clearly but when the icon of the computer machine is followed by the image below, it means that the machine is managed by your Notification Server because it has a Symantec Management Agent installed and registered. If not, than this machine is not managed by your Notification Server and it was discovered in your network.

    HI rafaelfontana,

    Thanks for your reply,

    1) How can I verifiy this host is managed by Symantec? Is that Managed mean agent installed?

    2) yes, you are correct. Is that Symantec icon. Is that icon appeared equal to "Agent Installed"?

    Thanks

Yes, a managed endpoint is one that has the SMAgent installed.

Yes, that icon indicates that the machine is managed by that SMP, thus having the SMAgent installed.

    Thanks,

How could I verify the Agent is really installed on the Computer? As the "Installed Agent" container is not trustable already I think (Thus some computers without Symantec icon are also there).

    Thanks.

The default install directory of the agent is C:\Program Files\Altiris\Altiris Agent.
