Could any bodya provide reason why couldn't upgrade SAV Clients 10.* to SEP 12.1.

Provide need to provide reason's & explain to our client.

I know One reason that the architecture is different.

Please suggest.

1) why couldn't replace sylink.xml on SAV 10.* cleint and change management server to SEP 12.1 RU1.

2) What are steps to upgrade SAV Clients 10.* to SEP 12.1.

yes, the architecture is different. SEP 12.1 uses web server. Just replacing sylink on sav doe not make it connect to SEPm and download the package.

Simple answer: SAV 10 does not use sylink files and can't be managed by the SEPM.

SAV 10.x - Symantec Antivirus

SEP 11/12.x - Symantec Endpoint Protection (Includes Antivirus, Host Firewall, HIPS,App & Dev Control,TruScan etc)

So its not just Architecture but SAV was just simply antivirus but SEP is complete Endpoint Solution for Endpoints.
