  • 1.  Why Installed Agents/Plugins is not consistent via "Push Symantec Management Agent funciton"?

    Hi,

I have a All-in-One Altiris Notification Server 7.5 (Virtual Machine) for PC inventory & software deployment with MSSQL database 2008 R2.
    I did the following:
    - I use the "Push Symantec Management Agent funciton" to install the Agent remotely on XP01 with successful result
    -Under "Manage > COmputers" I found XP01 installed 12 Agents/Plugin
    - Then I use the "Push Symantec Management Agent funciton" to uninstall the Agent remotely on XP01 with successful result
    - Then I use the "Push Symantec Management Agent funciton" to install the Agent remotely again on XP01 with successful result
    - But this time, I only found 6 Agents/Plugin are installed on XP01 Under "Manage > COmputers"
    - I tried install other new discovered computers "Push Symantec Management Agent funciton", some computers would contain 12 Agents/Plugins but some only have 6 Agents/Plugins

    1) Why? Why will like this?
    2) Where can define what Agent/Plugin to be installed via "Push Symantec Management Agent funciton"?

    Thanks.

Most of the plugins you have seen after the first push are sub agents. And these gets installed by a policy and not by the push itself.
If you have not changed the policies between the pushes after some time they get reinstalled.

    A-Law,

Enough time may have not elasped, for the targets/filters associated to the Agent/Plug-ins to updated.

The Symantec Manage Agent checks at a predefine interval set on your Notification Server. When the Agent checks in and the computer is in the target/filters associated to the Agent/Plug-in Policy it installs the SMA Agent/Plugin.

Computers are added and removed from the filters at a define interval set at the Resource Membership Update (Settings -> Notifcation Server -> Resource and Data Class Settings - Resource Membership Update)

Agents/Plugins rolled out to computers with the SMA can be enable or disable by selecting Action | Agents/Plugin-in -> Rollout Agent/Plug-in

    HI WDRAIN1 & all,

    Thanks.

Yes, I found some Computers finally get all Agent/Plugin. However, some are still not be installed all agent/plugins.

    1) How to I check is the agent waiting for installing or It's already final set of agent on a client?

    2) In " Action | Agents/Plugin-in -> Rollout Agent/Plug-in", there are 6 name there. Are those mean those 6 items related Agent/Plugins would be pushed via "Push Agent" function? (Please refer the following screen capture)

    3) If Question 2 is true, What's the actual Agent/Plugins name is/are included in those item? For example, Our client would be pushed a "Symantec PcAnywhere Agent", but I cannot find it on those 6 items which are mentioned in question 2.

    Question 2 Reference:

    Thanks.

You can check on the client, if you (still) see the policy. Or you can check the policies on the console. You will find the policies in the sub folders of your printscreen.

A push only installs the "Symantec Management Agent" from your printscreen. All other agents needs to be installed by policy (or tasks).

You know that pcAnywhere is EOL and not anymore included in the newest version of altiris?

    Thanks schnyders,

However, I found something let me confused. I took 2 agent for example:

    1) pcAnywhere Plug-In Install policy:

No Schedule is here, but computers that I jsut discovered and use "push management Agent" function would deploy pcanywhere plug-in also. why?

    2) Software Management Solution Plug-In (it should be same with normal deployment yet):
