will deduplication work with tapes?

We would  to implement deduplication on our site.

It is a small site and no disk media..all we have is tapes.

 

will deduplication work with tapes?If yes what is the best approach..

No. Dedupe works with disk only.

Various dedupe methods are available - either NBU Media server dedupe (MSDP) or 3rd party dedupe appliances via OST.

One of my collegue informed me that client deduplication is possible with is that true.

Yes, client deduplication is possible with NetBackup MSDP and with NBU Appliances.
