Endpoint Protection

  • 1.  Will this endpoint manager (11.0.5002.333) upgrade to 12.1.4

    I have looked at this article.  http://www.symantec.com/business/support/index?page=content&id=TECH211821

    And it says 11.x will only upgrade to enterprise version.

    So how do I tell if the customer has the enterprise version?

    The download says it is Symantec_Endpoint_Protection_12.1.4_MP1a.

    Just to make sure before I tell them I can upgrade it and find out that I can't.

    I have inculded a screen shot of the about for the 11.x version.

    Yes you can

    first upgrade to RU4, then run the MP1a on top of it

    update: this one says 

    • This version of the SEPM is supported for migrations over any version of the SEPM (Customer does not need to update to RU4 prior to applying the MP1a)

      Actually you can go right to 12.1 RU4 MP1a...it includes a direct upgrade path from any previous version.

      You don't need to waste time upgrading to RU4 first, see here:

      What's new in SEP 12.1.4.1

      Extended upgrade support

      • Unlike most maintenance patch releases, you can upgrade any version of Symantec Endpoint Protection directly to 12.1.4.1. Unsupported downgrade paths still apply.

       

      You'll save some time this way.
