  • 1.  Will SEP 11.0.4 run under WIndows Server 2008 R2 SP1?

    Posted Aug 14, 2013 03:19 PM

    Greetings,

Currently using 11.0.4 in a server 2003 environment.  Getting ready to retire that server and use a 2008 server R2 to house SEP 11.

WHen we install the product it seems to get through most of the process and then it rolls itself back.  THought before I waste a bunch of time trying to make this work, I better check to see if it might be a simple matter of "you can't get there from here" e.g. not compatible.  Please advise

    Thanks

It's not officially supported but it should install though. These should answer you're question. 11.0.5 is the first officially supported version:

When upgrading the OS its adviced to uninstall the existing SEP and install a new SEP after OS upgrade is done. 11.4 is very old and the latest is 12.1.3(supports 2012 as well)

Since you are upgrading the OS. I would suggest to go with 12.1.3

    Hi,

Thank you for posting in Symantec community,

SEP RU5 and later is supported under Server 2008 R2.

However it's receommended to Upgrade to the latest available release of SEP to enjooy many other enhancements and improvements.

SEP 11 RU7 MP3 is the latest version of SEP.

The best favor you can do for yourself is to upgrade from SEP 11 to the latest SEP 12.1 RU3 (12.1.3001)

    http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH206823

You can upgrade to 12.1 if you have a valid support contract.

    Hello,

You are running an old version of SEP 11.0.4000 which was released in Dec 2008.

    Check this Article:

I would request you to please Migrate the SEPM to the version of SEP 11.0.7000 and later to the Latest version of SEP 11.0.7300.

    OR

Migrate the SEPM to the Latest version of SEP 12.1.

    Check these Articles:

    Latest Symantec Endpoint Protection Releases - SEP 12.1 RU2 and SEP 11.0 RU7 MP3

Just agreeing with what is above- upgrade to the latest available SEP 11 or SEP 12.1 release!  There are many known defects and security vulnerabilities in the old SEP 11 MR4.  Always be sure to use the latest release.
