Will SEP provide services to version 10.x clients?

Hi,

Is it possible for SEP to provide the necessary services to 10.x clients until I get around to upgrading them?

If so, how is this done? Do I drop sylink.xml into C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Symantec\Symantec AntiVirus Corporate Edition\7.5 as is done with grc.dat?

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks
G

Yes and no.

Yes - SEP 11.0 Management server can be configured to accept logs from SAVCE 10.X. This way you can still consolidate the reporting.

No - SEP 11.0 Management server cannot direct manage the AV policy for SAVCE 10.X and below.

If you SEPM to build the client installation package and you do this by exporting the client package, the sylink.xml and policies can be packaged with the installation files into a single executable. Run the executable on the client to install SEP 11.0 or to upgrade from SAVCE 10.X to SEP 11.0.

If you want to drop the sylink.xml file, you can use sylinkdrop.exe from CD#2.

Cheers
SK
