  • 1.  Will SEPv11 conflict with a guest portable computer preinstalled with a different AV?

    Hi Team,

    A guest w/ a different Anti Virus connects to a SEPv11 environment/ Network.
How would SEPv11 react or manage if infections would source out from the guest Laptop?
Is it advisable to install SEPv11 if a previous non Symantec AV was already pre-installed?

    Best Regards,

There shouldn't be an issue. Guest computers should have AVs installed on them before allowing connection to your network. And mobile PCs are factory set to get their updates directly from the Internet without proxies. Unless it is also a corporate workstation that get's it's updates from their company server, it should be reconfigured to download from the internet before joining your domain. It will not send out any information unless you installed some data gathering software on it. Check the proxy settings and the AV definitions download policy.

I dont see an issue either. SEPM just doesnt interact with that machine. Having said that, it is a risk in your environemnt, especially if the patches and the AV defs on the non SEP machine is old and it becomes a pintof infections on your network. I would suggest that you put your SEP in in and amange it with your policies for the duration that its on your net work.
