  • 1.  Will Sylink File Overrule Group Setting?

If I have a client in an AD synced group and import a sylink file from another group into it, will the sylink settings overrule the group settings?

Or will the client revert to its group at some point, perhaps on the next heartbeat?

With AD sync on, the client would go to whichever group it resides in within AD. If you want to move the client within SEPM, it needs to be done in AD first.

It will move back to AD OU when the next time SEPM syncs with AD. You can right click on the OU in SEPM and select Sync. the client will come back to this group.

    I know. That's not what I mean.

Let's say that a sylink file from a certain group is accidentally imported on a client in another group. What happens?

In the brief time I attempted to use AD sync and this would happen, nothing. It would stay in its AD sync'd group.

In AD synch group it will auto moved in the SEPM that group where it located in AD.

    Hello,

When a client in an AD synced group is being imported a sylink file from another group into it, the sylink settings will overrule the group settings for time being.

However, as soon as AD sync takes place it will revert to the original group and respective settings.

    Regards,

Nothing. Please see SMLatCST's comment here:

Interesting. So, bascially, if I have a bunch of clients I need to point to another SEPM and they're all in different AD OUs I could just export the communication settings from the domain OU rather than having to drill down into each individual OU. Right?
