Hi,

Need your help to solve this SEP11 client in "Windows 2000 Server with Service Pack 4" running in VMWare:

The Network Threat Protection say "Waiting for Updates" in the status window.
The Antivirus is able to get the latest definition updates and Policy updates from the SEPM Server.

Also in the Device Manager; under the Network Adapter group, there is are Teefer2MiniPort drivers:
"VMware Accelerated AMD PCNet Adapter"
"VMware Accelerated AMD PCNet Adapter Teefer2MiniPort"
"VMware Accelerated AMD PCNet Adapter #2
"VMware Accelerated AMD PCNet Adapter #2 Teefer2MiniPort"

What needs to done to resolve this problems?

try restarting the SMC
i.e goto start --> run -->type stop -smc , once the SEP icon is disabled. follow the same and type start -smc.
 

also check the logs for the NTP

 Does these computer have a special character in their name or description ?

If you are facing this issue one or two PC's, then try to remove NTP using Add/Remove programs, then Restart the PC
Then add NTP again, then run a live update on the PC

Open Add/Remove Program
Select SEP -> Change
Click Modify -> Uncheck Network Threat Protection and proceed

Restart PC, then do the Reverse and run a Live update

Problem
The problem was NTP definitions are not updated.  The Network Threat Protection say "Waiting for updates".

Also the Teefer2 MiniPort driver is visible on WMWare network driver.  (O/S is Windows 2000 is running inside VMWare).

Solution - Given by a  Symantec Technical Support Engineer:
The Server Administrator has to run cleanwipe utility before reinstalling SEP11 client with all features.

Results - The NTP is able to get updates successfully now.

Note: Cleanwipe utility is only available from Symantec and not for public download.

Hi Vikram I also face this type of problem (waiting for updates) does it relates to computername as mentioned by you. does special character in computer name cause this type of problem.
