Win 2008 Server Backup - Part Snapshot part Folder?

Hi, Why would some of my Win 2008 Servers be backing up partly with Snapshots? e.g. The full system is selected for backup which includes C drive D drive Shadow Copy Components and System State. For some reason, C drive back ups (Fulls and Diffs) are all run as folder? backups but D drive, Shadow Copy Components and System State (Fulls and Diffs) are all snapshot backups? I can't see an option to see this either way, it seems to have decided to do it on it's own but why would C drive not also be snapshot backups?

Cheers,
Aaron

more details...

could you please describe it a bit more detailed?

How did you configure the backup? options, etc.
Is it a clean win 2008 Server?

How do you determine that C: is backed up using file and folder backup and D,etc. using Snapshot backup?
I do not really understand that. What do you mean by file and folder backup and snapshot backup?

best regards
