Win 7 PCA 12.5 using dialup not working

Created: 16 Nov 2012 | 3 comments

Has anyone gotten dial up to work with Windows 7 PCA 12.5.5 build 1206.

I use the Windows 7 box to dial up a remote WinXP box.  It answers but all I get is a black screen.

Any one?

What version of pcA on the xp box?   It needs to be 12.5.5 to work correctly with a 12.5.5 system.

As a result of the security updates, this new version of pcAnywhere is not backward-compatible with, and will not connect to, older versions of pcAnywhere.

Symantec recommends that customers install the latest version of pcAnywhere (12.5 SP4 or Solution 12.6.7) and follow general security best practices. The latest version of pcAnywhere includes all previous hot fixes and the updated security model.

I have set up and used 12.5.5 to 12.5.5 over modems in my case it is xp to xp but that I know did work.

Cheers.

I have not been able to get PCA 12.5.5 build 1206 to work consistently via dialup.  I have spent over 100+ hours working on this.  Two different engineers from Symantec helped.

I have also had consistency problems over a WAN.

I have given up on PCA.  We have used PCA for many years.  They really messed this new version up.

You can switch back to pre 12.5.5 since the modem stuff wasn't supposed to have changed.
