What does bpgetconfig produce when run from master?

UNIX
/usr/openv/netbackup/bin/admincmd/bpgetconfig -g <client_name> -L

WINDOWS
<install path>\veritas\netbackup\bin\admincmd\bpgetconfig -g <client_name> -L

<client_name> = the host for which you want to get configuration information.

You need an OpenVision to see the truth about Backups. Restores are a plus. But that's just Semantics ;)

ITs easy :)

sudo bpgetconfig -g win2003machine1-L
Client/Master = Client of master
NetBackup Client Platform = PC, WindowsXP
NetBackup Client Protocol Level = 7.5.0.0.0.4
Product = NetBackup
Version Name = 7.5
Version Number = 750000
NetBackup Installation Path = C:\Program Files\VERITAS\NetBackup\bin
Client OS/Release = Windows2003 5

[nbadmin@ ~]$ sudo bpgetconfig -g win2003machine2 -L

I think you're ok

Check these too

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Veritas\NetBackup\CurrentVersion\PackageVersion

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Veritas\NetBackup\CurrentVersion\VERSION

Something maybe just went wrong with updating the version file. Or maybe the install path changed?

What does this one contain

NETBACKUP_HOME\NetBackup\version.txt

agree with Riann, usually I would check under \netbackup rather than \netbackup\bin.

Successful upgrade may not look at removing existing files in \netbackup\bin, i believe in 7.x above version.txt file is now in \netbackup\ folder.

Hi Guys

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Veritas\NetBackup\CurrentVersion\PackageVersion

6.5.2007.0723

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Veritas\NetBackup\CurrentVersion\VERSION

6.5

NETBACKUP_HOME\NetBackup\version.txt

HARDWARE Windows x86
VERSION NetBackup 6.5
RELEASEDATE Mon Jul 23 19:09:02 CDT 2007
BUILDNUMBER 20070723

I have checked both version.txt files i.e.,  in \netbackup\bin, & \netbackup\  both are same

That is odd, I'd just un-install and re-install in this case. Then you can be sure.

Ok .

Re: Uninstall

I just need to uninstall from Add/Remove Program , or is there any specific order or way to uninstall to clean up 100%

Re: Install

I belive I need to run base 7.5 version setup.exe to install freshly from scratch.

thanks!

Hi,

Lets backup one second. You say "I belive I need to run base 7.5 version setup.exe to install freshly from scratch.". Did you not run this when doing the upgrade? or did you only run the 7.5.0.4 patch on top of 6.5?

LIMRA's picture

No. I ran 7.5 base version first , (i.e. silentpatch.cmd) , and after that I do see that it's been showing 6.5 version only other than in the client GUI.  So I did not try 7.5.0.4 later on.

Sorry for confusion if causes

Riaan.Badenhorst's picture

Oh ok,

In that case, yes, take of 6.5 from Add/Remove Program, check to see if the registry is cleaned up, then install 7.5 and patch to 7.5.0.4
