  • 1.  Win7 clients and 2008 netshare problems?

    Posted Nov 07, 2011 02:12 PM

Is anyone having issues with Win7 clents accessing 2008 netshares? Meaning certain file-types fail to open? I posted in the wrong forum last week (See thread in File Encryption for details of my problems: https://www-secure.symantec.com/connect/forums/netshare-1020-client-question).

    Thanks for any observations.

Well , I have found a bug reported  for this problem, happening to other´s files extension. I have updated bug track reporting that PDF files are also affected.

They are working to fix this for next version.

    This information might be useful:

I could not reproduce this with Desktop 9.10.0.554 on a Windows XP SP3 connected to a Windows Server 2008 SP1 and SP2.

All files/folders accessed via UNC can be encrypted/decrypted fine using NetShare and even the overlay icons were fine.

Please, try mapping the drive and access the file.

If doesnt work , you can try using 9.10.

    Good luck

PGP 9.12 is the only PGP 9.x version with Win 7 support.

    Any update on this problem?

I can confirm pgp encrypted TIF file residing on 2008 r2 server SP1 cannot be opened(using windows photo viewer or 3-rd party irfanview) by win7 client running pgp desktop 10.2.

XP clients can open the same files ok from the server.

For win7 client, encrypted file opens ok if copied to local machine.

If the same encrypted file is copied to win server 2003 SP2, both XP and win7 clients can open the file.
