This issue has been solved. See solution.

Is it possible to create a managed software delivery using the exisitng downloaded Win7SP1 from patch management. I dont want to add it to the Software library and the it has to replciate to all sites servers again. (basically duplicating itself)

Hi,

No, this is not posible as Software Resource with patch data have no package and comandline, it can be only used by pach management.

Regards,

Dmitri

I dont really like the pushing a SP out through patch management as the options to the user aren't as good as a MSD.

Remove it from Patch and just use MSD to deploy it?  Then you're at least not duplicating the storage use.

Makes sense :-) - I just thought there might have been a way to use the same file.

Possibly but I don't think you'll be able to add it to the Library.  You could figure out SP1's GUID and find the file on your package servers, set up the %TASKSERVER% token, and then call SP1 from a command line.

But all of that would be waaay messier than just using an MSD, especially if you think you'll not use Patch for SP1.
