Hi,

We have Symantec backup exec V12 installed on windows 2003.

We have another windows 2008 server.

I want to install BE remote agent on this windows 2008 server.

During the push installation you cannot select option for "Advanced open file" - Option is grey.

It looks installation fails without any errors also when manually installing remote agent on windows 2008(using command setup.exe /aofo)

Do I missed something ? I did not find anything useful in documentation... Please help.

How can I use Advanced open file option with windows 2008 ?

With windows 2003 it works without problem.

Best regards

Roman Lenarsic

AOFO cannot be installed on win 2008 server.
To backup the open file VSS is recommended.

Is this still true? AOFO can't be installed on Server 2008?  Is are readme file or some other document that states this?

Please check this :

http://support.veritas.com/docs/275975

And check the note :

Note:  Only VSS can be used when backing up Windows 2008 Servers, so please do not attempt to either push out or perform a silent installation (local command line install) of the AOFO Option on these machines.  AOFO and the Remote Agent should also be un-installed prior to upgrading a previous version of Windows to Windows 2008 and then only the Remote Agent be installed after the upgrade has been completed.
