I am currently using SAV Corporate Edition 10.2.4.4000 on my Win2K8 servers.  I have Primary and Secondary Parent servers (SSC 10.1.6.6000) on Win 2K3 servers which is managing my 2K3 systems and 2K8 systems without issue.  I would like to know if I can promote a Windows 2008 system to act as a SAV Parent server?   All the documentation I have read (ReadMe - dated 2006) says only Win2K and Win2K3 systems can be Parent servers, and they can manage 2008 servers.  Will (or when will) a 2008/Vista system be able to act as a SAV Parent server, or what version of Endpoint Protection allows this?    Thanks for your time.

In Endpoint Protection 11.0.5 and above will be best suited for Windows 2008 servers. however Windows 2008 should able to acts as Primary server for SAV...Only 64 bits cannot be primary servers.

    Vikram -
Unfortunately, I am forced to use what my company provides and the latest is Endpoint 10.2.4.4000.  You say that I *CAN* install Symantec System Center (SAV Parent) on my Windows 2008 system and use it as a Parent server, correct?   I have not found any documentation saying this is available.

    Mudit and Pete -
I have SEP running fine on my Windows 2008 systems - I am trying to figure out if I can make my 2008 system a SAV Parent server that can manage my Win2k3 and 2k8 systems.  I have a mixed environment with Win 2003 and 2008, with 32 and 64 bit systems.  Currently, my Windows 2003 SAV Parent server manages them all without issue but it is getting old and I will be replacing it soon.

    Thanks -

Hi   I followed your link and found this at the bottom of the page:
"The management components cannot be installed on a computer running Windows Server 2008 or Windows Vista."
This is what I want to do - add Management Components on Windows 2008 (Make it a Parent Server).   My 2008 system is a 32-bit system, but I am not finding anything that states I can make any 2008 system a Parent server.   Thanks

    says
The management components cannot be installed on a computer running Windows Server 2008 or Windows Vista.

So it can only be used as managed client.
