Windows 2008 & SQL 2008
I am interested to see if anyone has been brave enough to tackle installing Altiris on Windows Server 2008 and SQL 2008.
I have an opportunity to use of both but there is not much documentation of either with the exception of a Juice article talking about SQL 2008 Express.
Has anyone else taken the 2008 plunge?
Well, if you're asking about NS, it would be a pretty shallow plunge. NS 6 isn't supported (on either 2008 platforms) only DS.

The link below says that NS and DS can run on SQL 2008:

Of course it is a Juice article and I am not sure how much of it to believe. I have yet to be burned by Juice articles and their suggestions.
I am still curious. Enough to try and feel the burn (if there will be one).
My NS (with Helpdesk) and DS servers are loaded with Windows Server 2003. The new SQL server that will house all of my Altiris databases is what will be loaded with Windows Server 2008 and SQL 2008. Maybe it might work.
hmm. Condorman usually knows his stuff, but no where else is it defined that NS will work on SQL 2008. You can always try it, but I know it's not supported. However, as far as server 2008, I'm almost sure NS7 out of the box won't run on it.

I put this question to Condorman on Juice. I have done and recommended running DS on SQL 2005 express (MSDE worked, but it wasn't a best option). However I would be VERY leery of putting NS on a reduced functionality version of SQL.
This KB https://kb.altiris.com/article.asp?article=44067&p=1 give good information about DS support for both SQL and Windows 2008.
