What happens when LiveUpdate is run?

It looks like this is an unmanaged client (due to the LiveUpdate button not being greyed out).  Does LiveUpdate work, or do you get an LU number code error (like LU 1815, LU 1835, etc)?

MadhaviR's picture

Yes it is an unmanged WT 64

Yes it is an unmanged WT 64 bit. When liveupdate runs there are no errors , it says that the session is complete

HI

on WINDOWS 7 SEP is supported. [EDITED]
If you are running a fresh install of SEP
then follow this procedure
remove liveupdate and SEP
delete all the symantec folders and liveupdate folders
reboot the box
install SEP again and run liveupate.
Hope this helps

Windows 7 *is* supported

Windows 7 is a supported OS, provided you're running RU 5...which the original poster is.

Down load virus definition

Down load virus definition from here and try to install..
The screen shot indicates virus definition is missing...
Is it a managed client or unmanaged client?(In your screen shot liveupdate button not grayed out this will be normally present in unmanaged clients or in managed client were the manual launch of liveupdate is allowed but by default is is disabled in managed clients)

How can the defintions can be

How can the defintions can be corrupt when i am installing SEP for the first time on a brand new machine????????

Prachand's picture

Open the SEP64 bit folder

Solution

Open the SEP64 bit folder  and install LU first .
Reboot the machine  and then install SEP.
We used to do this with SEP MR4 when it was not compatible with SEP but the steps should work with RU5 also. RU5 is compatiblewith Windows 7 , at this point of time try to see if that works.
this will help us to isolate the issue as it is with your computer or with your product.
