Windows 7 64bit RC Ghosting with ghost 2.5 suite & Setupmgr.exe to create sysprep.inf
To anyone, currently have a testing project to image Windows 7 64bit RC to deploy one ghost image to different Dell Optiplex and Thinkpad laptops.
I used this process when imaging Windows XP on Dell machines and Thinkpad Laptops.
I built a bare Windows XP Dell machine.
Downloaded all the necessary drivers for all my Dell machine.
Use a program called Sysprep driver scanner.

Create a sysprep.inf from the Setupmgr.exe to create unattended install with all my settings including user account to join our domain.
Then I would run sysprep and reseal the computer system.
I would then upload the image using the ghost cast server to a share on the server.
When I would deploy my Windows XP image to another Dell machine I would start up the Ghost server and download the image to that Dell computer.
Can someone tell me the process on deploying the Windws 7 RC and how to use Ghost 2.5 suite. I read about the unattended.xml file
But I can find any information how to create it and use it with Ghost 2.5 suite? Seems like I can only use Microsoft Products to use the unattended.xml file to download images.

You have to use the Windows
You have to use the Windows Automated Installation Kit to create the xml file. It's a free download from Microsoft. Here's a good link about using it with Windows Vista.

Also After I use create the unattended.xml file then can I use ghost 2.5 suite instead of image X
I think there is a new
I think there is a new version of WAIK on the technet site, it might be the beta though. I've used ghost to create a windows 7 image, it seemed to work ok.
where to put the unattend.xml file on the ghost image
I was able to use the WAIK to create the unattend.xml file.
Does anyone know where do I put the unattend.xml file on the ghost image?
Do I put it in the root of the C: drive
Also is there a document or video that shows how to customize the Windows Image components. For example how to logging into a domain, how to install drivers.
I know on Windows XP in the setupmgr.exe you were able to customize it to create a sysprep.inf file during the creation of Windows XP.
WAIK for Windows 7
Hi ghostrider34 did you use the WAIK to create the unattend.xml file and then use ghost to copy the image to deploy to other systems.
Would you like to reply?
