Everytime the windows 7 clients logon after any type of shutdown/reboot the SEP icon always shows a problem with with Endpoint protection disabled.  The user then needs to manually fix or enable it.  Is there a fix to this problem?

    Hi,

Try to repair the SEP client and check if it works fine.

If not then you will have to reinstall it once

Make sure you are using at least version RU5 (11.0.5002.333). Any version before that does not support Windows 7.

How can you update the client software version? I'm running 11.0.4000.2295 and need to get it up to RU5.

Log into Fileconnect with a valid serial number to get the latest build (RU6a) 11.0.6005.562

11.0.4.4000 is not a supported version for windows 7. You need to download SEP RU6a from https://fileconnect.symantec.com

then first upgrade your sepm then deploy RU6a clients

on windows 7 clients un-install old version and install new version

if these are standalone clients then from cd1\sep install SEP RU6a

I am sure it is running 11.5 but I'll update to 11.6 and push it out.   These Win7 machines had a new package created and pushed to them about a month ago, so I don't think a repair is going to do it.

I'll post back the results as soon as I can update the server.

On second thought I will not be updating to 11.6 soon, I may skip it altogether due to slow console and clients not updating etc, etc.   I have spent roughly a 1000% more time with SEP 11.x then I ever did with SAVCE.  I will just try reinstalling on the Win7 machines and cross my fingers.   In my opinion SEP 11.5 has been the best running/working/stable version released so far.   Bet you can't guess what I was doing for half a day yesterday ?!!

The problem was a poorly setup Policy.  Windows 7 clients now starting up with All featues enabled.
