  • 1.  Windows 7 GUP machine is containing out of date defs.

    Hi All,

If Windows 7, which is configured as GUP machine, is containing out of date defs. then would it be working fine as a GUP(i.e. distributing defs. properly to the associated clients).?

The fact that GUP has old definitions may not necessarily affect the clients it serves. Did you verify the clients that connect to the GUP are out of date?

Have you tried manually updating the GUP?

How many GUP content revisions are you storing?

Go to liveupdate policy > Server Settings > Group Update Provider > at the bottom Delete unused updates if unused (days). Do you have this set higher than 3?

GUP Client being out of date doesn't affect its functionally as a GUP and it will continue yo download the serve the definition request that are coming in from the SEP clients provided that the GUP client is have proper established communication with the SEPM.

on a after thought you might want to check as to why the GUP client is out of date. perhaps a symhelp scan on the GUP client will let you know if its holding any corrupt client.

When did the issue began? Was this machine properly working as GUP before this issue began? or is this the first time you configured this machine as GUP? In the SEPM console, when you open the client properties of this GUP machine, does it says "TRUE" for being a GUP?
