  • 1.  Windows 7 SOI - Anyone successfully joined domain?

    Hey guys,

We are currently in the process of deploying windows 7 via a SOI task.. Everything is working as expected except when we trying to use a "Apply System Configuration" task to join the domain. We get the error of  "The client doesn't have the proper agent for this task" ... What plugin does it need to have other than the default SMA agent to apply a system configuration?

The agent is initialized and working, but fails to complete the join domain task.

Has anyone tried this process successfully yet?

    Thanks!

please confirm Deployment plugin is installed or not on client machine

Apply System Configuration  can only be run when Deployment plugin is installed.

What was the process to add OS files; was it Resource Import Tool or Symantec Management Console.

We used the Resource Import tool to bring in the source OS files.

The issue comes into play where the Apply Configuration task kicks off before the Deployment Agent has the chance to install to the SMA. We have circumvented this by applying the join domain configuration items directly into the Sysprep itself... While not my preferred method because the domain creds are present in the file, it did indeed work.

If we would have used SMC to import the source files, would there have been a different outcome?

Yes, please use SMC and update us if you still have the issue. I am expecting use of SMC will give you successful results.
