Windows 7 x64 clients missing from SEPM
Created: 09 Aug 2012 | 6 comments
Inherited a messy network. 7 PCs are W7 x64 SP1, 8 are WXP SP3. The XP machines show up just fine in the SEPM "clients" screen. All of the Windows 7 machines do not. There aren't any filters being applied. I've tried uninstalling the client on the W7 machines and then reinstalling via push from the SEPM console and via *.exe local execute install. The package installs fine but then it never "checks in" and shows as a client.
Any ideas? thanks.

one more thing to add: Also on the XP machines that do show up in SEPM, the LiveUpdate updates (antivirus definitions) are not being pushed down to the clients.
Do the Win7 clients have the green dot on the icon to indicate they're communicating with the SEPM?

No. Within SEPM they aren't even listed. I have to manually add the computer account. Then after I add it, the "Health State" column reads "Offline" and various columns read "Not reporting status" or "Not Available".
It feels like a firewall issue. I am just using the SEPM built-in firewall. Do I need to add ports or does it open those needed during install? The ports I'm about to test out are:
Server Port: 8443
Client Communications port: 8014
Server Control port: 8765
Reporting port: 8445
I just need to read up on that in Symantec's docs.
Have you disabled the Windows firewall?

Hi,
Kindly check ...
Client Side Firewall are disable or not ?
Firewall should be off..
SEP Client are Showing Green dot or not ?
SEP client Server showing online or offline ?
For any client/server communication issues always start with:
