Windows 7 x64 Create Image Issue

Created: 03 Dec 2012 | 2 comments

Hi guys,

I'm new to DS7, and I'm basically trying to create a Win7 x64 image.

I've installed the necessary components on both the client and server.

I've created the task to do the following:

1) Reboot to Automation

2) Prepare for Image Capture

3) Create Image

4) Reboot to Production

It sucessfully completes task 1 and 2 and partially 3.

This is where I'm now stuck. It seems to be creating the image (Ghost), and it reaches around 9GB or so and it fails.

And I've also notice the _Symantec_netboot_Interface also fails too.

I've checked the log files on the client side, but nothing that really gives me any clue.

Any help would be much appreciated.

First off, you should switch number 1 and 2. The way you currently have it, you are booting into WinPE and running Sysprep. Among other things, the Prepare for Image capture is running sysprep.

Now, I am not 100% sure that this will solve your problems, but you have to start at the beginning and make sure all the tasks that lead up to the failure are correctly setup.

For it failing at 9 GB, this could be many of issues. Most notably, network connection drops. Hard to troubleshoot this without more information. There is a ghosterr.log file that could give more informatno on the machine the image is being captured on.

The Symantec_netboot_Interface service is used for PXE boot. This should not be an issue if you are already in WinPE. Although it is still cause for concern. Just not the issue for your first problem.
