Windows 7 x64 Support in EV 8.0

I know that Windows 7 x64 Support for EV 8.0 is still pending but can someone post some better detail on what to expect with EV and Win 7 x64 Support?  What version of EV will support Windows 7 x64?  Is this going to be a special release of a new Outlook Add-in or a full blown service pack that will require an update on the server side?

Is there a beta add-in that is available to try...?

Windows 7 has been RTM for Enterprises since August and beta and RC for much longer..  Just doesn't seem like this should take so long.

Thanks,
Brian

BrianO, Last time I checked

BrianO,

Last time I checked with the certification team, the main plan is to certify the EV Outlook Add-in with Windows 7 32 bit first... 64 bit may lag behind somewhat.  There won't be a special version, nor is there a beta.  In essence what happens with the Outlook Add-in is that the latest "few" versions are typically tried by the team, and if bugs are encountered they are filed, and assessment made as to whether the add-in works or not.  No bugs are anticipated with Windows 7 (many of us have been running it throughout most of 2009 with no problems).  The reason for the delays though is that its a prioritisation game, particularly when looking at 64 Bit.  There are just "sooooo many" things for the certification team to test, that some things inevitably are lower down the ranking than others.

Hope that helps,

Thanks

Maybe you should hire some

Maybe you should hire some more cert peoples :)

i agree that waiting 4 months and more "just" for certification is not really good, especially when all businesses skipped vista and want to deploy 7 rapidly ;)

Agreed.  Our business needs

Agreed.  Our business needs to replace/refresh hundreds of XP machines and are pushing out Windows 7 on new hardware, while also upgrading our Exchange from 2003 to 2010.  i am very unhappy that there is no support for Exchange 2010 yet from EV.  the fact that  cannot get a confirmed date for support bothers me as well.  We want to install Office 2010 but EV is not supported on that to the best of my knowledge.

Office 2010 still isn't

Office 2010 still isn't released though, but to the best of my knowledge it will be supported in Enterprise Vault 9, for tentative release and beta dates you can read about here:
