Hi everyone,

I have installed Hyper-V role on WS2012R2. On the same server I installed SEP 12.1.5 x64 client.

When I try to run Windows Server Backup to backup virtual machines on Hyper-V, my backup job fails.

When I uninstall SEP client, backup is successful. SEP client contains only Antivirus&Antispyware and Sonar components.

Event viewer Application log has the following error:

Event ID 517: "The backup operation that started has failed with 
following error code '0x80070020' (The process cannot access the 
file because it is being used by another process.). Please review 
the event details for a solution, and then rerun the backup operation 
once the issue is resolved."

If anyone have some opinion about this issue, ot some suggestions?

Do you know specifically what file this occurs on? Have you entered in any BE exclusions?

Looks like this problem has been addressed in the latest SEP version. Otherwise you are facing the same behavior. I'd suggest you on openning a new Support Case.

You mean SEP exclusions? If you mean did I set up exclusions on sep client (hyper-v folders, vm hdd folders....) ? Yes I did.

I have no specifically file where this occurs. I only have this event application log error,  written above.

In this artical state that this problem is resolved in version 12.1.5.

But I use that version.

I will try this solution tonight.

I tried solution about disable deferred scanning but backup still fails. I also tried to remove sonar component from sep client but problem still occurs.

I had to remove sep client completly from hypervisor.

I found some warning and error logs in application logs...
