This issue has been solved. See solution.

Our Netbackup 6.0 environment includes a Solaris Master and Windows client.
How do we configure a policy to back up a filesystem on the client to comply with Symantec Document ID: 249758 which states "It is essential that the Primary be backed up using a block-level backup rather than a file level backup...Serious data corruption will occur if replication is set up using a Secondary that contains data restored from a file-level backup."

VVR or NBU ??

that technote is for VVR, which is for replication
as per your mail it states that you are having NBU 6.0

assuming you are having NBU 6.0 for windows file level backup you can backup file level data using Windows-NT policy and that data will be consistant.

refer to admin guide for more information for windows backup.

sorry if any confusion

Due to possible VVR issue we want to do block-level tape backup of a Windows drive and don't see anything in the Netbackup manual or helpfile which details how to do this.

Then I'm guessing it means

Then I'm guessing it means you should make an image of your server with something like Ghost, as your "block-level backup", as I don't think they mean that FlashBackup is going to give you the desired results...

thanks

Waiting on clarification from support, while our Windows admin is thinking disk-tape, I get the feeling the memo calls for disk-disk.  It says "media" but not "tape".

"The data is backed up on the Primary and the media is then physically shipped to the Secondary location, where it is restored to the Secondary."
