We're using Symantec Endpoint Small Business Edition and before installing on a system that was recently upgraded from Win-7 Pro to Win-10 Pro I wanted to uninstall or otherwise disable Microsoft Defender. Apparently this cannot be uninstalled with any success so once having turned off it's protection I then went to Services to change the startup type to 'Manual'.

Even though I have admin rights on this system any ability to do anything with these services is grayed out.

Any thoughts as to what is going on here? Again, O/S is Windows-10 Pro but not yet activated.

    Thanks,

    1. Run gpedit.msc
    2. Navigate to Computer Configuration > Administrative Templates > Windows Components > Windows Defender
    3. Double click on "Turn off Windows Defender"
    4. Select "Enabled" > Apply > OK
    5. Close Group Policy Editor
