Hi

I'm new on Symantec Brightmail Gateway. So i have make today a testinstallation (on a ESXi Server) on our Enviroment! Now i have some troubles with this Product and i can't solve them... so i hope you can help me....

After General Setup, i have configure our AD as LDAP Server! Then i have synchronise LDAP to CC and CC to Scanner. This work an no Error in the lOG... But if i try to logon with a user account from LDAP, i only see the Error: Bad Username or Password.... i can only Login To CC with the admin Account!

Then i see that SBG has handelt 40 Message! And all of this message are Spam... but in the SPAM Quarantain i see no Messages...

So i will aks if anyone have a "How To" for me, that shows a beginner how he must configure SBG to use it in a Windows SBS 2008 Enviroment....

Kind Regards and many Thanks...

 couple thoughts...

1. Logging in with regular user account: Do you have "Administrator-only Quarantine" box unchecked under Spam tab - Quarantine Settings?
2. With the Spam emails: What is the rule you have set for handling spam? Delete or quarantine? can you tell use what the verdict was for one of those emails by searching thru the Audit Logs on the Status tab?

Policies

Hi,

What spam policies do you have enabled? (Click the Spam button on the top menu)

You should make sure that the Policy for "Spam or Suspected Spam: Quarantine message" is enabled and applied to either your default group or the groups you have created from the LDAP sync data.

Also, you should check what the Reputation policy settings are (Click the Reputation button).

If they are set to 'Reject SMTP Connection", the message is never received so you will not see anything dealt with by Reputation in the quarantine.
I recommend you leave it that way as it is the most efficient way of blocking spam.
I also recommend that you try to avoid enabling end user quarantine by deleting spam and suspected spam.

I'd suggest having a read of the Getting Started and Administrators guide if you are brand new to Brightmail Gateway - It'll explain the features and concepts you should be aware of.

Hi there, we are facing the

Hi there,

we are facing the same problem.
Messages for users are quarantined. the user gets an Email with links to view and release/delete the quarantined messages.
This works. But when the user tries to logon to his q-zone manually with IE, an error message is displayed (bad username or password) after the user has entered his Áccount.
