  • 1.  Is Windows XP Disk Defrag utility safe after disk encrypted?

    Posted Apr 27, 2012 10:41 AM

I've just installed PGP Desktop 10.0.1 and it has encrypted my hard drive.  The laptop is running WIndows XP Pro SP3.  Everthing is running fine.

I'm wondering if the disk deframent utilty that comes with Windows is safe to use?  If not, what is?  I'm not sure where the encrypt/decrypt process is in the stack compared to where the defragmenter operates.

I've searched the forum and can't find a definite answer to the question.  I defragmented before installing, but that won't last long.

    Thanks, Tom!

A bit off topic...  I used to be active in the SDK forum back when it was PGP Corp's.  Did any of the old forum's content migrate here?

I summarized some of the recently resolved topics as new topics in these forums, but that was it.
