I'm looking at getting Endpoint Protection Small Business for a new laptop running windows 7. I have some applications that need to run under windows XP mode. Presently I am running free trial of Norton Security from windows 7, and every time I start my virtual XP machine it warns me that it has no AV and other protection.
Will I have the same problem with Endpoint? I don't want to buy 2 license to protect 1 computer, and I want to make sure in case some of my XP applications need to download files or do other things, that my computer is protected. See attached snapshot of the Windows Security Center on the Virtual XP machine.

Appreciate the help. It looks like the Symantec sales people don't know the answer to such a simple question.

When you install a program in Windows XP Mode, the program appears in both theWindows XP Mode list of programs and in the Windows 7 list of programs, so you can open the program directly from Windows 7

Even if your computer running Windows 7 already has antivirus software, you should also install antivirus software in Windows XP Mode to help defend your computer against viruses.

Thanks for trying to help, though either I don't understand what you're trying to say, or it looks like it's not helping at all.
If I install under XP mode, then that software only runs on the virtual machine, even though I can launch it from windows 7, hence it won't protect my windows 7 OS based machine.
I know that I would have to install the AV software in XP mode even if it is already installed in windows 7.
The money question is, how do I install it twice (once in 7 and once in XP) without having to pay for 2 licenses.

If you are trying to install Symantec endpoint protection 11.0 you dont have to worry about licenses.

will check on whether the license is per host or per machine.....will get back to you on this.

    Okay here is it
if you have purchase symantec per user; then you can use it on both of them; single license
if its per device then its 2; coz both are treated different here.
Let me know if you have any questions.
    wrt symantec endpoint

Symantec Endpoint Protection will be licensed using the standard per-user/per-server metering. This product does not require a license file
