WinPE 2.1
This issue has been solved. See solution.
Hi,
I try to install the WinPE bootenvironment on DS 6.9 SP1 but the installation stops during the process.
I click onto the button ADD-PREBOOT then select WinPE 2.1 x86 then select Altiris WinPE installer and browse to the path of the Altiris WinPE exe file.
Then click next and the installation starts. After a while a new window comes up "Installing Windows Automated Installation Kit". This works well.
Then the installation goes back to the initial Window and there comes a smal window with the Message "Missing Operating system files". And that was it.
Anybody a idea that the problem could be?
Regards, Bernd

"Resolution
Make sure the WinPE 2.1 installers for x86 (32-bit), x64 (64-bit), and ia64 (Itanium) are saved to the Desktop or eXpress share. The installer will not install if the executable is saved to a remote share.
Copy the Winpe2.zip to the Bootwiz\Platforms\Winpe2 then open the PXE configuration and Add Preboot should show the Winpe 2.1 installed.
Winpe2.zip contains all three folders, I64, X64, X86, but if you open the BootDiskCreator and it still doesn't show X86 installed, then copy the X86.zip instead of the entire WinPE2.zip folder into BootWiz\Platforms\X86.
Also need the WAIK folder from the express share.
If you receive an error message the wimfltr driver needs to be installed. Go to the directory for WAIK\X86\wimfltr.inf and right click to 'Install' If the Deployment Server is installed on a Windows 2003 64-bit and install the wimfltr.infx64."
DS 6.9 SP2 and WinPE 2.1
I too am experiencing the same problem. I have DS 6.9 SP2 and have downloaded several copies of the WinPE 2.1 executable with the same "failed" results.
Your post discussed the Winpe2.zip and the x86.zip (I'm yet to discover where these files are) so I've been unable to complete your resolve.
The process looks like it's working and then inevetably posts the error message "Missing operating System Files".
Has anyone been able to resolve this problem?
TBonsal1,
thanks for your good tips. On little hint: Without SP1 on Windows 2003 Server it's also difficult to install WAIK.
Thanks and regards, Bernd
