  • 1.  WinPE Automation - Automatically restarting

    Posted Mar 13, 2009 11:02 AM

This is my first post so I'll try to give the information about my problem as best I can!

We are setting up a new 6.9SP1 DS on new hardware. We have an existing 6.9 DS but we have been using DOS for PXE, on the new server we want to use WinPE 2.1.

Everything seems to be going okay with one exception. Whenever we pxe boot a client to WinPE it goes along for a way, then tries starting DAGENT and it says "connection closed session terminated" and restarted the machine.

Does anyone have any ideas about where I can start troubleshooting? I have tried doing with from an automation partition and over the network and I get the exact same thing both ways.

    Thanks so much!

Do you have a job setup on the computer you're PXE booting? Without a job the computer will just reboot like you're seeing.

    Actually, I didn't. That's a little embarassing.

It's working properly with a job scheduled.

I guess I can just interrupt the restarting process if I need to access rdeploy to run a job manually?

    No problem, it happens.

Yeah, I believe F2 interrupts the process and then you can get to a F: prompt.

If you set your PXE to be a Network PXE instead of an Automation PXE this will allow you to use any PXE you create to run jobs manually.  This is one of the last questions when you create the PXE image.

I am having the same issues booting into WinPE.  Also, can someone help me to figure out why my express mount points are not available in the linux preboot?  I have the mounts listed, but when I boot into the linux preboot, it says that they are not available.

    Please help.
