  • 1.  WinPE Background Image

    Hi there,

Does anyone has created a Deploy environment on 7.5 SP1 HF5 and when WinPE booted you didn't see the proper "Symantec Automation" background image? Because all I am getting is a blue background. "Symantec Automation" image is located correctly in :\Program Files\Altiris\Deployment\BDC\bootwiz\Platforms\WinPE\x86\Optional\Boot and :\Program Files\Altiris\Deployment\BDC\bootwiz\Platforms\WinPE\x64\Optional\Boot. On NBS, same thing.

Tried to recreate preboot: no luck. A friend consultant told me to repair DS, but I wanna see if anyone have experienced this first. May I have missed some step on configuring WinPE by Windows ADK on bootwiz?

    WinPE screen down below.

    Regards.

I had to mount the WinPE image, using DISM per https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/hh824926.aspx and https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/hh824972.aspx#AddWallpaper. Change the standard image located in system32, ummount the image commiting the changes, and then replace the winpe.wim inside the waik folders.

Boring job as hell. Come on!

That's where I placed mine...I did not have to mount any of my WinPE images through DISM.

Rebuilt my boot images (remember, bootwiz takes a LONG time to run successfully end-to-end) and then was able to use my new background images when booting to PXE.

If I recall, it's a file named winpe.bmp (or maybe .jpg)...I put both in there.

Hi tloenhorst! I guess there is something wrong with my software, because, I needed to use DISM in order to inject drivers in winpe, as well. I get a support case with Symantec so I can understand why bootwiz is not working on its own.
