Deployment and Imaging Group

Anyone have any luck getting PXE boot images working with the NIC on the Lenovo T460? It uses the I219-LM driver. I've imported every single one I could locate (from Lenovo and Intel) for Windows 7, 8.1 and 10 utilizing x64 which we typically do when we upload new driver support for WinPE. Any help is appreciated!

Solved it byusing the NIC driver for the Lenovo Helix. Why did that work? Who knows, but it did.

I'm having the same issue with the T460s.

Which Helix driver did you use? I'm only seeing the 20CG (which doesn't have an ethernet driver) and the 3xxx series, which only has a USB adapter driver.

I'm sorry I have to dig into my notes for the specifics but the SCCM pack Thinkpad offers didnt' quite work and I had to go hunting for a winpe driver.

The version that worked was e1d63x64.

From my cruddy notes it was from "winpe4.0-from intel-ndis63". I think I pulled that off of Intel's website but ndis63 appeared to be the right version.

Also, not sure what OS your loading but Windows 7 requires a BIOS change to the older TPM module. If you don't you'll get an "unknown device" in device manager that will NEVER load.

Lam_Cake...I'm so sorry...I think I made a mistake in posting earlier. It wasn't the Helix! I believe it was actually this driver:

Give that a try, but also note we are on WinPE 5.1.

Same here...the SCCM pack didn't have the correct NIC driver.

Also interesting as I did not need to make any changes to my TPM settings and it appeared in device manager as installed. Are you using DeployAnywhere? We are not and use the old-school driver injection method os using "Devicepath" in the registry. DA isn't reliable yet.

I feel like I tried every driver on the face of the planet.  THe SCCM pack, every download on the t460s website driver's page, and searches for device ID on the Internet.

Each time trying to point to a folder of drivers and coming up empty.  Then I made the change in BIOS for TPM, reboot, and the system detected the TPM and no drivers were missing.

No dice for me.  Just to clarify: you are using the WinPE 10.0 drivers with WinPE 5.1? I've tried the drivers you linked with both 10.0 and 5.1 to no avail. 

I had a conversation with another engineer who works at another company and he said he got these to work:

Actually, I did get it working.  Turns out I was not selecting them properly when making the boot image.  Huzzah!

That's great!!! Which link in the above posts worked for you? It seems some might have gotten different results with different drivers based on the WinPE version they use. Mark whichever one worked so we know.

I had the same problem some years ago with a specifIc model from HP.

Apparently, the problem was something with BIOS. After two BIOS downgrade, my computer could find my PXE server and receive the WINPE packages without problem.

This is the driver that worked for me (e1d63x64).  I forget where I got it from (I downloaded a lot of different drivers trying to get this to work).  I used WinPE 5.1.
