  • 1.  WinPE4 and HP Elitedesk 800 G1 issue

We are trying to boot a HP Elitedesk 800 G1 into WinPE and we get as far as the 'Restarting DHCP Client Service' message.  I have added the Windows 7 & 8 drivers into the PreBoot Driver Database and can see from the BDC folder that its there on the main NS and has replicated to the site servers.  Can anyone shed light on why this is not working??

    Thanks

Did you use the drivers found in the WinPE download package from HP by chance (for that model)?  I tried to use these and it did not work.  I instead used the "real" network drivers for win8 (or perhaps its labeled 8.1) and it worked fine.

I have WinPE 4.0 x64 running fine on a HP Elitedesk 800 G1.  I seem to recall the same issue resendesw mentions at the time.

For comparison, my e1d63x64.sys driver file is version 12.8.33.9427

It is a NDIS 6.x driver.

    Greetings Gavin,

I have attempted to upload the attached drivers as provided in your last post, they appear to be located inside the "CUSTOM" folder after doing a server restart as initally, I was faced with the "Unable to add pre-boot OS drivers" in the driver management settings in Altiris

Although we have only configured 1 PXE server, I have installed the upgrade of WinPE 2.1 to 4.0 on Altiris 7.1 on both NS and SS.

For some odd reason, even after adding the drivers, and doing a network boot for undefine machine, it is still unable to grab an IP, it keeps retrying on DHCP.

In addition, we have tried uploading the same driver on an USB, and loaded up the driver in PE command prompt using the DRVLOAD command, and were able to get an IP.

Am I missing anything out? I see alot of people being able to get this driver to work for this machine with WinPE 4.0
