This issue has been solved. See solution.

Hi All,

I am facing one problem i am using SEP 11.0 MR4 pack. I want to install SEP protection on Windows 7.

I tried to install its unmanged SEP from my license setup.
I run setup simply but now when i am running live update its showing error no 1835 or something.

I need its solution as soon as possible. Please provide how to do it easily and securly. because i run it more then 3 times. and every time i am trying to restrat my client machine its going into repailr mode.
I am installing on Windows7 Enterprise licensed version.

Hi

You cannot have MR4 on win 7
use MU5
You will find win7 here not in MR4

Rafeeq is right. Only RU5

Rafeeq is right. Only RU5 (MR5) version 11.0.5002.333 supports Windows 7.
Here is a bit of info that might help:

As every body has already

As every body has already mentioned , the Windows 7 is Supported but  only with SEP 11.0.5 RU5.

But if you still want to install MR4 on windows 7 then follow the steps:

In the CD1 open the SEP folder

Run the lusetup.exe and reboot the machine

Then ran the setup.exe from the SEP folder

this will take care of the problem  BUT THIS IS A WORKAROUND NOT SOLUTION.

SEP11 RU5 for Windows 7 and Windows 2008

Hello,

We have been using SEP 11 RU5 on Windows 7 and windows 2008 servers for couple of months without any issue so far.  But please make sure to disable User Access Control, windows firewall and windows defender, as stated in DocID: 2009111012170848

Best wishes!

Sounds like you do NOT have

Sounds like you do NOT have Network Threat Protection (NTP) enabled and running?  May also want to turn up heuristics to maximum all the time.

Without NTP, SEP will let through a lot of stuff.  NTP is needed as most viruses, are attacking an OS or App vulnerability.

There is an online portal, save yourself the long hold times. Create ticket online, then call in with ticket # in hand :-) http://mysupport.symantec.com "We backup data to restore, we don't backup data just to back it up."

Remove any folder or registry

Remove any folder or registry entry belongs to SEP.
Install live update first and try to install SEP after that..

  Windows 7 / 2008 R2 -

Windows 7 / 2008 R2 - SEP Client installation rolls back

http://service1.symantec.com/SUPPORT/ent-security.nsf/docid/2009110411364348

Work around for issue:

  1. Open and log into Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager
  2. Select Admin
  3. Select the 11.0.5002.0 package you wish to deploy (either WIN32BIT or WIN64BIT)
  4. Click on Export Client Install Package
  5. Enter the folder location for the client package
  6. Uncheck the box for create a single .EXE file for this package.
  7. Select Settings and Features desired and Policy settings and Mode and click on OK
  8. After the package has finished exporting open the Symantec_Endpoint_Protection_11.0.5002.333_RU5 CD 1\SEP directory and copy the LuCheck.exe and LUSETUP.EXE in to the folder where expanded package was exported overwriting the existing LuCheck.exe and LUSETUP.EXE.
  9. The package can then be deployed via the Migration and Deployment Wizard

This will need to be done for both the 32bit and 64bit clients.
