    I am thinking of removing SEPM and reinstalling everything.  Between the upgrade not going well (cannot connect to the database) and processor utilization going through the roof, I am getting frustrate and am thinking it may be best to start with a clean slate.

    I am just curious on how to retain all my settings if I go this route.  If possible, I dont want to have to reconfig eveything.

    thanks

    You have 2 options here

    1) back up the entire database following the diaster recovery document , link is below

    http://service1.symantec.com/SUPPORT/ent-security.nsf/docid/2007082112135948

    2) export all the polices somewhere where you can access them ( only if you are able to log in to the manager)

    install new sepm
    create new groups
    import the polices
    use the sylink remote to get the clients back..

    use this to get the sylink remote

    hope this helps

    Thanks for the info...may not have to go this route since I was able to reconnect to the database.

    Hello Tech,

    If yourexisting installation is fine and if you want to ahead without reinstall
    ,you can tune the cpu utlization  used by sepm.

    You can change this figure by adding/changing the scm.delta.cpu.usage parameter in the conf.properties file to a decimal number between 0 and 1, where 1 represents 100% usage and 0.5 represents 50% usage.

    final edit would look like this
    scm.delta.cpu.usage=0.2 ( 20% of cpu)

    Ref : http://service1.symantec.com/SUPPORT/ent-security.nsf/docid/2007121216360648

    Hope this helps
